Common Questions From New Patients
Don’t wait. Even if you haven’t been to a dentist in years, don’t hesitate to come in. Dental problems don’t get better with time. Often, something that starts out as a simple fix becomes more time-consuming and costly the longer it’s put off.
Dr. Silvers also offers emergency dental services, for both existing and new patients. If you have a broken tooth or broken filling, or if you are experiencing nerve pain, toothache, or swelling, Dr. Silvers will see you promptly, treat the pain, and work with you to create a plan to address the problem.
Please call our office at 650-967-1075 if you are a new patient or in pain. It is our priority to fit you into our schedule.
If you haven’t been to see a dentist for a while, you may be wondering what to expect at your first dental exam. Here is what you can expect at our office.
Your new patient exam and cleaning appointment will take about 1.5 hours. To start, you’ll fill out new patient forms on an iPad in the office, which will give Dr. Silvers an idea of your dental history, priorities, and any specific problems you’re experiencing. This paperwork can also be done ahead of time online.
Next, you’ll be greeted by one of Dr. Silvers’ dental assistants, who will take x-rays and photos of your teeth so Dr. Silvers can track your oral health over time and spot any changes. Then you will meet and be seen by Dr. Silvers for a thorough exam. If areas of concerns are identified Dr. Silvers and her team will take the time to discuss them with you and answer any questions you may have about how they should be addressed. If treatment is recommended a print out of the estimated cost will be provided to you at the end of your appointment.
Once your exam is complete, you will go to the hygiene room to get your teeth cleaned. During a cleaning, a skilled dental hygienist will remove the plaque and tartar from the gums using an ultrasonic water scaler and a hand scale. You can expect to get personalized hygiene instructions catered to your needs, as well as advice if you have questions about anything specific, such as the type of mouthwash you use or how you can reach problem areas.
It’s helpful if you can brush and floss your teeth before coming in. Beyond that, just make sure you’ve filled out your new-patient forms ahead of time, or arrive early so you can do it in the office before your appointment starts. If you’re a new patient but recently had X-rays taken at another dental office, let the staff know when you make your appointment and they will assist you in having your x-rays and dental records transferred from your previous provider.
The cost of your dental exam will depend on your insurance coverage. For most people with insurance, there is no cost at all. And for people without insurance, Expression Dental is offering a new-patient special for that costs just $170, including an exam, cleaning, and X-rays.
Our New-Patient Special costs just $170 and includes:
